K Beauty Trend Hits Mainstream Hollywood

K Beauty Skin Care Products Wows Mainstream Hollywood Makeup Artists

I am always on the hunt for amazing skin care products and I had to look into this  Korean Beauty or #Kbeauty trend. What’s all the hype about? Why is it such a topic of conversation?

The trend is referred to as K beauty, and it’s all about the ingredients. Celebrity make-up artists are using it more and more too. Well, I got to speak with 2 notable celebrity MUAs that shared with me their favorite #Kbeauty product and also gave us some tips on trends to watch for this summer!

Here is Elizabeth Hoel-Chang Celebrity Make UpArtist for the hit TV show This Is Us, on her summer skin care tips and tricks:

Celeb MUA Elizabeth Hoel-Chang“I spritz a spray of rose water on my clean face before I put on my favorite natural Korean skin care products from SMD Cosmetics. I use Khiel’s SPF 50 facial sunscreen every day under my makeup. I’ve been using SMD Cosmetics religiously since November, and now I’ve completely stopped wearing any foundation because I don’t need it. The SMD Cleansing Oil is the perfect cleanser because it doesn’t strip my face of all the oil and disrupt my PH balance. It has been a life-saver for breakouts. Usually, I’d have 4X the hormonal or summer breakouts using a stripping cleanser. I then apply a dusting of mineral powder on my face, concentrating mainly on my cheek area to correct my rocesa. Simple eyeliner and mascara, and fill in my brows. I apply a bit of bronzer or light pink blush on my cheeks and am on my way. I will sometimes blot my face with a light blotting powder, otherwise just let my face be as it is. Even if my mineral powder wears off over a long day at work, it doesn’t bother me now because my skin has repaired, plumped and become so hydrated from the help of SMD Saromae Snail Serum I also make sure I drink plenty of water and implicate more organic avocadoes in my diet since they are in season and are SO GOOD for your skin!! Along with strawberries, grapes, and kale.”

So I did a little bit of digging and found out, SMD Cosmetics produces one of the most popular prestigious skin care lines in South Korea, formulated on over 2,000 years of herbal medicine wisdom! It’s a natural (which I LOVE) premium herbal medicinal-based line that is fairly new to the US! I heard that SMD products are being used by top celebrity make-up artists, and are also now being sold at Nigel’s Beauty Emporium in Hollywood.

I got to interview celebrity make-up artist and photographer, Troy Jensen, to give us this summers hottest skin care and make-up tips and this is what he had to say: Lisa-Vanderpump-The-Housewives-of-Beverly-Hills-Clarissa_Burt

“I like my “muses” to come to me with radiant glowing clear skin…I love SMD Cosmetics, a K-beauty brand new to the US…some of my clients and I use the Saromae Snail Serum on the skin under make-up for radiance. I ease my clients (Jordan Sparks, Giuliana Rancic, and Mariah Carey to mention a few) into summer makeup by first warming up their complexion. I choose a sheer foundation that will give them a warm wash of color. At the moment I’m obsessed with Dior Skin Nude Air Serum foundation. It’s so sheer, it literally looks invisible on the skin. Next I will add a peachy glow to the skin with Two Faced Cosmetics “sweet peach glow” pallet… it has a bronzer, a highlighter and a beautiful peach blush, to give you that instant beach babe look! I even dust a little highlighter and bronzer on the eyes and top of with this seasons IT beauty trend: tinted mascara (I love Benefit Cosmetics “there real mascara” in Beyond Blue. On the lips this summer, shimmer is a big trend and rose gold is really hot. Jouer Cosmetics has created a beautiful rose gold collection for the lips: I love “the long wear lip cream liquid lipstick in rose gold” and I go over it with Jouer’s lip topper in rose gold, focusing on the center of the lip and upper bow of the lip.”

After speaking to the Troy and Elizabeth I want in! I can’t wait to get my INHYUNJIN anti-aging set for myself! #Kbeauty !!!

Meet Lauren Ing of SMD Cosmetics

Article in Voyage LA Magazine:

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Ing.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My vision was to provide EFFECTIVE, UNIQUE, PREMIUM, LUXURY skincare that was also natural, safe and non-toxic. I knew there was natural skincare out there and also luxury skincare, but nothing that provided both of these qualifications in a way that didn’t feel like a sacrifice of one or the other. I want women to feel that they are making their skin more beautiful, youthful, radiant but without sacrificing peace of mind and health.

I am like many of you, I, too, struggled with terrible skin. I suffered from acne, acne-scarring, allergic-reactions, sensitive skin, dry-patches, oily-patches, redness, and breakout. It caused me to feel self-conscious, depressed and hopeless about myself and my skin. I had tried all types of products: expensive, mass, organic, prescription and cosmeceuticals, loaded with harsh chemicals, and even concoctions prepared at home. I changed my diet and cleansed and cut out dairy and still I faced irritated and angry skin. And, unfortunately, nothing showed lasting results. I started to see real results with Saimdang Cosmetics’ line of natural, herbal-medicinal based products. When I saw AMAZING results, I was hooked!! Coincidentally, Saimdang Cosmetics, was exploring the idea of launching its premium, natural, herbal medicinal based skincare products in the United States. Saimdang, founded over 20 years ago, was one of the first natural skincare companies based on herbal medicinal formulations. This began the start of SMD Cosmetics International.

Has it been a smooth road?
SMD Cosmetics is one of Korea’s most prestigious, top-selling skincare lines formulated on over 2,000 years of herbal medicine wisdom by a team of researchers and chemists to revive, replenish and rejuvenate your skin using the power of nature and innovative technology. Since it was founded over 20 years ago under the name Saimdang, the challenge has been launching it under a new name, SMD Cosmetics, here in the US.

Despite this re-launch challenge we have been honored that top celebrity make-up artists have discovered how powerful our products are and how their skin can transform with the right products. The challenge is in communicating and having to educate people from scratch about what they should be putting on their skin and why. The product really sells itself in Korea because of all the accolades and awards won, we even won the prestigious Presidential Award in 2011.

Another obstacle SMD faces is the award-winning packaging is in Korean, and although it’s authentic to the brand origin it has been an obstacle to have English labels added. It helps that the “K-beauty” trend is a big movement in the US and people are craving Korean skincare but SMD is taking the already exalted status of “K-beauty” to the next level!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SMD Cosmetics – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
SMD Cosmetics is a luxurious skincare company with 20 years of history and patented formulas. It’s the attention to meticulous detail that goes into making each product that sets SMD apart. The premium products are made with the VIP, elite clientele in mind. From every exclusive ingredient, the careful selection of the environmentally friendly glass bottles, to the top-fashion designers that helped craft the award-winning design and packaging, no detail is overlooked. And I am most proud of the fact that industry professionals are recognizing this. That’s why we are proudly sold in Nigel’s Beauty Emporium, a destination for Hollywood’s best.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Elizabeth Hoel-Chang is a big fan of the brand now and uses the SMD Inhyunjin collection, and she sent me this quote: “You and your family have a gift to really be able to help people. It’s not only about great skin, but also giving people the confidence and knowledge of what they are putting on their skin… a healthy, nutritional element to help preserve themselves. In a day and age of snake oil tonics and empty promises, this line of skin care is the miracle and truth people need to know about and have the ability to get it for themselves because they deserve it. !!”

The creation of the exclusive Inhyunjin anti-aging line that Elizabeth Hoel-Chang is referring to is true labor of love; with six rare ingredients that are processed nine times over fifty days. The process includes fermentation, resulting in powerful probiotics that preserve the product, naturally. I’m proud to give people a natural product that lends results!

Our best-selling product, the Saromae Quintessential Snail Serum Concentrate, is the perfected result of combining the precise formulation of natural ingredients and ancient herbal science. It contains 62% pure snail filtrate extract, which is the perfect balance of efficacy and texture. This cruelty-free, all-in-one formula reduces wrinkles, dullness, sun damage, hyper-pigmentation, and acne scarring. It also deeply hydrates, reverses signs of aging, and brightens the skin. It’s truly a GAME CHANGER!

The Powerful Connection Between Psychology and Skin

Having good skin has more to do with psychological well-being than just sheer vanity.
For the millions of people who struggle with their skin, it’s something that can have a major impact on their life. Skincare problems can lead to serious psychological issues, that have long-term effects. In fact, the American Academy of Dermatology reports that millions of people are affected by skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema, and that each of these issues are linked to depression and anxiety. The emotional impacts can continue to impair the individual long after their skin condition has cleared up. Our body image accounts for a large part of a person’s self-esteem and our overall psychological well-being.

“Skin problems can be the source of extreme distress in people, causing a loss of self-
confidence, anxiety, feelings of shame and embarrassment, which often results in a
sense of hopelessness and helplessness. Poor skin quality has been linked to everything from suicidal thoughts, PTSD, social isolation to higher unemployment rates,” explains Lauren Ing, president of SMD Cosmetics International, who is also a licensed marriage and family therapist. “The mind/body connection between skin and psychological well-being is strong. We know that when we feel good about our skin, it directly links to feeling better about ourselves.”

Psychodermatology, an emerging area of science, looks at the relationship between psychology and one’s skin, because it has been identified in numerous studies as such
an important issue.

“We know the psychological damage that skin problems can lead to,” states licensed
psychotherapist and vice president of SMD Cosmetics International, Amoreena Berg.
“The good news is that with products like SMD Cosmetics, we can help just about
anyone’s skin look more radiant, helping them to love what they see when they look in
the mirror.”

South Koreans are known for taking great care of their skin, using up to 10 to 18
products on their face, twice a day. Their dedication to their skin may be the reason why
they are known for having some of the most beautiful skin in the world. It is a
preventative approach, because the Korean beauty philosophy is to use top quality,
natural ingredients that are safe and non-toxic, like those found in SMD Cosmetics,
which products are based on over 2,000 years herbal medicinal wisdom.

The SMD Cosmetics exclusive line is considered one of the most popular and
prestigious skin care lines in South Korea, and is now available in the United States. In
addition to the Saromae Snail Serum, SMD Cosmetics also offers the celebrity favorite
INHYUNJIN collection, which is a natural, anti-aging line that includes a purifying cream
toner, “essence” age defying serum, “emulsion” refining moisturizer, intensive night
repair cream, and their reversing miracle eye cream. The innovative collection is
patented, award-winning, and uses Asian herbals along with probiotics to help reverse
the signs of aging and provide skin renewal. They also offer specialty products like the
skin perfecting AloGel and the Saromae Collection, which uses beer yeast and bear
berry extracts to help brighten the skin and help the look of acne scars and/or dark
spots. The luxurious line of skin care products is now available in the U.S., online. They
are sold at Hollywood's premier beauty supply company, Nigel Beauty Emporium in
North Hollywood, Ca. For more information, visit the site at: www.smdcosmetics.com.
